Description

The ThermTrace Regular series heating cable is a self-regulating heating cable designed for anti-icing and frost protection installations, as well as applications where heating with a heating cable is needed. The power of this cable, ranging from 33 to 40 W/m, allows for protection against snow and ice on pipes, gutters, pipelines, and other uses.

Applications

ThermTrace Regular series heating cables find their application as:

 

  • heating of tanks
  • heating of pipes and pipelines
  • protection against freezing of roofs, gutters, or garage door tracks

  • heating of process lines
  • Protection of ramps and weighbridges for heavy vehicles against icing
  • The BOT version is coated with a fluoropolymer coating, which allows it to come into contact with corrosive substances.

The TTR series heating cable meets ATEX requirements and can be used in explosive hazard zones.

Construction:

Self-regulating heating tapes consist of two parallel conductors embedded in a semi-conductive self-regulating matrix. This means that the heating cable automatically responds to changes in external conditions. As the temperature rises, the synthetic material expands through molecular forces, and the connections between carbon molecules decrease, reducing the load. When the temperature drops, the load increases because the connections between carbon molecules grow. Therefore, the heating power changes in accordance with the surface temperature to which the tape is applied.
